It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of the rooster, for it calls to prayer. The wording of Abu Nazr’s narration is as follows: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade cursing the rooster and said: It gives a call as if for prayer.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … What is meant by the rooster giving the call to prayer is that the rooster generally makes a sound at the time of dawn (Fajr) and at the time of the sun’s zenith (Zawal); through this, people become aware of the time for the Fajr prayer and the Dhuhr prayer. In any case, after hearing the rooster’s sound, it is necessary to confirm the actual time of prayer.
