بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْتَرْهِيْبِ مِنْ سَبِّ الْمُسْلِمِ وَقِتَالِهِ وَأَنَّ إِثْمَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى الْبَادِيءِ مَالَمْ يَعْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُChapter: What has been reported regarding the warning against insulting or fighting a Muslim, and that the sin is upon the initiator unless the oppressed transgresses
Hadith 10126

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي زُبَيْدٌ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ سِبَابُ الْمُسْلِمِ فُسُوقٌ وَقِتَالُهُ كُفْرٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي وَائِلٍ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To abuse a Muslim is wickedness, and to fight him is disbelief.
