Hadith 10113

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted a man to Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: Keep him safe and guarded. But she was negligent and that man escaped. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, he asked: Hafsa! What happened to that man? She replied: O Messenger of Allah! I was negligent and he escaped. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah cut off your hands. Upon hearing this, the lady raised her hands in such a manner. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered and asked: Hafsa! What has happened to you? She said: O Messenger of Allah! A little while ago you invoked this curse upon me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Straighten your hands, for indeed I have asked Allah that if I ever invoke a curse upon any individual of my Ummah, He may make it a means of forgiveness for him.
