It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was walking with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a road in Madinah Munawwarah. On the way, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a dome made of unbaked bricks and asked: Whose is this? I said: Yes, it belongs to such-and-such person. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! Every building will be thrown down upon its owner on the Day of Resurrection, except that which is used for the construction of a mosque, or for such-and-such matters. Later, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the same road, he did not see the dome. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What happened to that dome? I said: When your words reached its owner, he demolished it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah have mercy on him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The details of this narration are as follows: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu, who says: “Indeed, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam went out and saw a prominent dome. He said: ‘What is this?’ His companions said to him: ‘This belongs to so-and-so, a man from among the Ansar.’ He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam remained silent and kept it in his heart, until when its owner came to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and greeted him among the people, he (the Prophet) turned away from him. He did this repeatedly, until the man realized the anger and aversion in him, so he complained about this to his companions and said: ‘By Allah! I find the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam strange and unfamiliar.’ They said: ‘He went out and saw your dome.’ So the man returned to his dome and demolished it until he leveled it with the ground. Then, one day, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam went out and did not see it. He said: ‘What happened to the dome?’ They said: ‘Its owner complained to us about your aversion, so we informed him (of your dislike), and thus he demolished it.’ He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ‘Be aware! Every building is a burden upon its owner, except that which is indispensable.’ (Abu Dawud: 2/347, Sahihah: 2830)
This was the spirit of obedience to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam among the noble Companions: whatever was beloved to him was beloved to them, and whatever was disliked by him was also disliked by them.
