Hadith 10072

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever’s concern is the Hereafter, Allah Almighty arranges his affairs, enriches his heart, and the world comes to him humbled (according to what is destined for him). But whoever’s worry and grief is only for the world, Allah scatters his matters, places poverty and need between his eyes, and he receives from the world only that which has already been decreed for him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of the hadith is that a servant should keep the commands of Allah Ta‘ala in view regarding his acts of worship and dealings. He should bring excellence (ihsan) into his acts of worship and strive to earn his livelihood through lawful (ja’iz) and permissible (mubah) means. He should never use a forbidden (haram) means for acquiring sustenance. Furthermore, if during his work or occupation, another responsibility from Allah Ta‘ala is placed upon him, he should set aside his engagements and fulfill that responsibility first. If he does not do so, his worldly needs will never be fulfilled. His mind will remain preoccupied with seeking more, more, and yet more, and suddenly the message of death from Allah Ta‘ala will arrive.
