Hadith 1001

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she borrowed a necklace from Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her), and it was lost. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent some people to search for it, and they found it, but the time for prayer came upon them while they had no water with them. So they performed the prayer without ablution and complained about this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then Allah Almighty revealed the concession of tayammum. Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): May Allah reward you with goodness. Whenever any matter arises with you which you dislike, Allah makes it a source of goodness and blessing for you and for the Muslims.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has also established a chapter on this hadith: ((Chapter: When neither water nor earth is found.)) When a person does not find water and soil is also not available to him. Before the legislation of tayammum, people performed prayer without ablution (wudu) in the absence of water, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not command them to repeat (the prayer). Therefore, after the legislation of tayammum, if soil is also not found, then prayer can still be performed without tayammum. (Fath al-Bari, vol. 1, p. 241) (Abdullah Rafiq)
