It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when he came out from the palace gate, he saw people playing chess. He went to them and detained them from morning until night. Some of them were detained for half a day. He said: Those who were tied up until night were the ones who played for money, that is, they were gambling, and those who were detained for half a day were just playing without gambling. And he ordered that such people should not even be greeted with salam.
