Hadith 1263
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الْعُمَرِيِّ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ مُصْعَبٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: إِنَّا نَتَرَاهَنُ بِالْحَمَامَيْنِ، فَنَكْرَهُ أَنْ نَجْعَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا مُحَلِّلاً تَخَوُّفَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ بِهِ الْمُحَلِّلُ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: ذَلِكَ مِنْ فِعْلِ الصِّبْيَانِ، وَتُوشِكُونَ أَنْ تَتْرُكُوهُ.
It is narrated from Husayn bin Mus'ab, may Allah have mercy on him, that a man asked Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him: We gamble by betting on two pigeons, and we dislike appointing a third person as a mediator among us, fearing that the mediator might take everything. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: This is the work of children; you will soon abandon it (when you realize that it is a sin).
