بَابُ الْخِتَانِ لِلْكَبِيرِ
Circumcision for adults
Hadith 1250
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: اخْتَتَنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عِشْرِينَ وَمِئَةٍ، ثُمَّ عَاشَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً. ¤ قَالَ سَعِيدٌ: إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَوَّلُ مَنِ اخْتَتَنَ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ أَضَافَ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ قَصَّ الشَّارِبَ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ قَصَّ الظُّفُرَ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ شَابَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، مَا هَذَا؟ قَالَ: ”وَقَارٌ“، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، زِدْنِي وَقَارًا.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) performed his circumcision when he was one hundred and twenty years old, and then he lived for eighty years after that.
Sa‘id (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was the first person to perform circumcision, and he was the first to offer hospitality. Likewise, he was the first to trim the moustache and nails, and his hair was the first to turn white. So he said: O my Lord! What is this? Allah Almighty said: "This is dignity." Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: O my Lord! Increase me in dignity.
Sa‘id (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was the first person to perform circumcision, and he was the first to offer hospitality. Likewise, he was the first to trim the moustache and nails, and his hair was the first to turn white. So he said: O my Lord! What is this? Allah Almighty said: "This is dignity." Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: O my Lord! Increase me in dignity.
Hadith 1251
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ أَبِي الذَّيَّالِ، وَكَانَ صَاحِبَ حَدِيثٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ: أَمَا تَعْجَبُونَ لِهَذَا؟ يَعْنِي: مَالِكَ بْنَ الْمُنْذِرِ عَمَدَ إِلَى شُيُوخٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ كَسْكَرَ أَسْلَمُوا، فَفَتَّشَهُمْ فَأَمَرَ بِهِمْ فَخُتِنُوا، وَهَذَا الشِّتَاءُ، فَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ بَعْضَهُمْ مَاتَ، وَلَقَدْ أَسْلَمَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرُّومِيُّ وَالْحَبَشِيُّ فَمَا فُتِّشُوا عَنْ شَيْءٍ.
It is narrated from Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, that he said: Are you not amazed at Ibn Malik ibn Mundhir, that he went out seeking elderly new Muslim farmers from among the Romans, examined them, and ordered that they be circumcised, even though it was cold (and the wound is also painful)? I learned that some of them even died. When Romans and Abyssinians accepted Islam with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, nothing was checked regarding them (whether they had been circumcised or not).
Hadith 1252
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الأُوَيْسِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ: وَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا أَسْلَمَ أُمِرَ بِالِاخْتِتَانِ وَإِنْ كَانَ كَبِيرًا.
It is narrated from Ibn Shihab Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him), he says: When a person would become Muslim, he would be ordered to undergo circumcision, even if he was of advanced age.
