بَابُ لا تَسُبُّوا الْبُرْغُوثَ
Chapter: Do not curse the flea
Hadith 1237
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدٌ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً لَعَنَ بُرْغُوثًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: ”لَا تَلْعَنْهُ، فَإِنَّهُ أَيْقَظَ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الأنْبِيَاءِ لِلصَّلاةِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man cursed a bedbug (khatmal) in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not curse it, for it woke up one of the Prophets for prayer."
