بَابُ يَضَعُ يَدَهُ تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ
Chapter: Placing hand under the cheek
Hadith 1215
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ الأَيْمَنِ، وَيَقُولُ: ”اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ.“ ¤ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to sleep, he would place his hand under his right cheek and recite: «اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي ...... » “O Allah! Save me from the punishment on the Day when You will resurrect Your servants.”
In another narration from Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him), it is reported in a similar manner.
