بَابُ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ
Chapter: What to say in the morning
Hadith 1199
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ: ”اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا، وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ“، وَإِذَا أَمْسَى قَالَ: ”اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ نَحْيَا، وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would enter the morning, he would recite this supplication: «اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا ...... » “O Allah! By Your grace we have reached the morning and by Your grace we reach the evening. By Your grace we live and by Your name we die, and to You is the resurrection.” And when he would enter the evening, he would say: “O Allah! By Your grace we have reached the evening, and by Your grace we reach the morning, and by Your grace we live and by Your name we die, and to You is the return.”
Hadith 1200
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلاَمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْفَزَارِيِّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي جُبَيْرُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ: لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَعُ هَؤُلاَءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ وَإِذَا أَمْسَى: ”اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ، وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي. اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي، وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي. اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ مِنْ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not leave these words in the morning and evening: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ ...... » “O Allah! I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah! I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and for my family and my wealth. O Allah! Conceal my faults and keep me safe from things that cause fear. O Allah! Protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your greatness from being suddenly destroyed from beneath me.”
Hadith 1201
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ: اللَّهُ إِنَّا أَصْبَحْنَا نُشْهِدُكَ، وَنُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ، وَمَلاَئِكَتَكَ وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ، أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ، إِلَّا أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ رُبُعَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، وَمَنْ قَالَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ نِصْفَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ، وَمَنْ قَالَهَا أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ أَعْتَقَهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever says in the morning: «اے اللہ! ہم نے صبح کی، ہم تجھے گواہ بناتے ہیں اور ہم تیرے عرش کے حاملیں کو، دوسرے فرشتوں کو اور تیری ساری مخلوق کو گواہ بناتے ہیں کہ تو ہی اللہ ہے، تیرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں۔ تو یکتا ہے، تیرا کوئی شریک نہیں، اور بلاشبہ محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تیرے بندے اور رسول ہیں۔», Allah Almighty frees a quarter of him from the Hellfire that day, and whoever says it twice, Allah frees half of him from the Hellfire, and whoever says it four times, Allah frees him entirely from the Hellfire that day."
