It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Shiban Yamami (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever sleeps at night on the roof of a house that has no covering or barrier, then there is no responsibility (of Allah) for him." Abu Abdullah says: Its chain of narration is questionable.

It is narrated from Ali bin Amarah (may Allah have mercy on him), he says that Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came. I took him up to an open roof. He came down and said: It was possible that I would have spent the night on the roof and I would have had no responsibility.

It is narrated from a companion of the Prophet (ﷺ) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever spends the night on an open roof and falls from it and dies, there is no liability for him. And whoever travels by sea during a storm and is destroyed, there is also no liability for him."
