بَابُ مَنْ أُلْقِيَ لَهُ وِسَادَةٌ
Chapter: If given a cushion
Hadith 1176
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْفٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أَبِيكَ زَيْدٍ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، فَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذُكِرَ لَهُ صَوْمِي، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ، فَأَلْقَيْتُ لَهُ وِسَادَةً مِنْ أَدَمٍ حَشْوُهَا لِيفٌ، فَجَلَسَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ، وَصَارَتِ الْوِسَادَةُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ، فَقَالَ لِي: ”أَمَا يَكْفِيكَ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّامٍ؟“ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: ”خَمْسًا“، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: ”سَبْعًا“، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: ”تِسْعًا“، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: ”إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ“، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: ”لاَ صَوْمَ فَوْقَ صَوْمِ دَاوُدَ شَطْرَ الدَّهْرِ، صِيَامُ يَوْمٍ وَإِفْطَارُ يَوْمٍ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both), he stated that the fasting of mine was mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to me and I offered him a cushion. That cushion was made of leather and filled with palm leaves. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat on the ground and the cushion was placed between me and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "Are three fasts every month not sufficient for you?" I said: O Messenger of Allah! (That is too few), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Five fasts." I said: O Messenger of Allah! (That is too few), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Then keep seven." I said: O Messenger of Allah! (That is too few), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Then keep nine." I said: O Messenger of Allah! (Nine are also few), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Eleven." I said: O Messenger of Allah! (Even eleven are few), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are no fasts superior to the fasts of Dawud (peace be upon him), and they are the fasts of half the year, that is, fasting one day and breaking the fast the next day."
Hadith 1177
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُسْرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى أَبِيهِ، فَأَلْقَى لَهُ قَطِيفَةً فَجَلَسَ عَلَيْهَا.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by my father, so he (my father) requested him to sit and spread a sheet for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat on it.
