بَابُ الاحْتِبَاءِ فِي الثَّوْبِ
Chapter: Wrapping oneself in a garment
Hadith 1175
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ لِبْسَتَيْنِ وَبَيْعَتَيْنِ: نَهَى عَنِ الْمُلاَمَسَةِ، وَالْمُنَابَذَةِ فِي الْبَيْعِ - الْمُلاَمَسَةُ: أَنْ يَمَسَّ الرَّجُلُ ثَوْبَهُ، وَالْمُنَابَذَةُ: يَنْبُذُ الْآخَرُ إِلَيْهِ ثَوْبَهُ - وَيَكُونُ ذَلِكَ بَيْعَهُمْ عَنْ غَيْرِ نَظَرٍ. وَاللِّبْسَتَيْنِ اشْتِمَالُ الصَّمَّاءِ - وَالصَّمَّاءُ: أَنْ يَجْعَلَ طَرَفَ ثَوْبِهِ عَلَى إِحْدَى عَاتِقَيْهِ، فَيَبْدُو أَحَدُ شِقَّيْهِ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ - وَاللِّبْسَةُ الأُخْرَى احْتِبَاؤُهُ بِثَوْبِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ، لَيْسَ عَلَى فَرْجِهِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade two types of clothing and two types of sales. In sales, he forbade mulamasa and munabadhah (mulamasa is when a person touches his garment, and munabadhah is when a person throws the garment towards another), and considering the sale to be complete merely by touching or throwing without seeing. And the two types of clothing that were forbidden are: samma’ (boli bakl); samma’ is when one edge of the garment is placed on one shoulder in such a way that there is nothing on the other shoulder. And the second type of clothing is to sit and wrap oneself with a garment in such a way that there is no separate cloth over the private parts.
