بَابُ أَكْلِ الرَّجُلِ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ
Chapter: Man eating with his wife
Hadith 1053
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ آكُلُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَيْسًا، فَمَرَّ عُمَرُ، فَدَعَاهُ فَأَكَلَ، فَأَصَابَتْ يَدُهُ إِصْبَعِي، فَقَالَ: حَسِّ، لَوْ أُطَاعُ فَيَكُنَّ مَا رَأَتْكُنَّ عَيْنٌ. فَنَزَلَ الْحِجَابُ.
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I was eating date halwa with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by. The Prophet (peace be upon him) called him, so he also started eating. During this, his hand touched my finger, so he said: Oh, if my opinion regarding you had been accepted, no eye would have seen you. Upon this, the command of veiling was revealed.
Hadith 1054
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي خَارِجَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ مَكِيثٍ الْجُهَنِيُّ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ سَرْجٍ مَوْلَى أُمِّ صَبِيَّةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ وَهِيَ خَوْلَةُ، وَهِيَ جَدَّةُ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهَا تَقُولُ: اخْتَلَفَتْ يَدِي وَيَدُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ.
Sayyida Umm Sabiyah bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her), whose name was Khawlah, says: I have eaten or used water together with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from the same vessel.
