بَابُ مَنْ بَخِلَ بِالسَّلامِ
Chapter: One who is stingy with Salam
Hadith 1041
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ: الْكَذُوبُ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ، وَالْبَخِيلُ مَنْ بَخِلَ بِالسَّلاَمِ، وَالسَّرُوقُ مَنْ سَرَقَ الصَّلاةَ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: The greatest liar is the one who swears a false oath, and in reality, the miser is the one who is miserly in greeting (salam), and the greatest thief is the thief of prayer.
Hadith 1042
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: أَبْخَلُ النَّاسِ الَّذِي يَبْخَلُ بِالسَّلاَمِ، وَإِنَّ أَعْجَزَ النَّاسِ مَنْ عَجَزَ بِالدُّعَاءِ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The most miserly of people is the one who is miserly in greeting (salaam), and the most incapable and helpless is the one who is even incapable of making supplication (du'a).
