بَابُ لا يُسَلَّمُ عَلَى فَاسِقٍ
Chapter: Do not greet a sinner
Hadith 1017
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَحْرٍ، عَنْ حِبَّانَ بْنِ أَبِي جَبَلَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ: لَا تُسَلِّمُوا عَلَى شُرَّابِ الْخَمْرِ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: Do not greet those who drink alcohol.
Hadith 1018
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَحْبُوبٍ، وَمُعَلَّى، وَعَارِمٌ، قَالُوا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: لَيْسَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ الْفَاسِقِ حُرْمَةٌ.
It is narrated from Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, that he said: There is no respect between you and a transgressor.
Hadith 1019
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو رُزَيْقٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَكْرَهُ الأَسْبِرَنْجَ وَيَقُولُ: لَا تُسَلِّمُوا عَلَى مَنْ لَعِبَ بِهَا، وَهِيَ مِنَ الْمَيْسِرِ.
It is narrated from Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah have mercy on him, that he disliked chess, and used to say: Do not greet the person who plays with chess. This is gambling.
