بَابُ إِذَا تَثَاءَبَ فَلْيَضَعْ يَدَهُ عَلَى فِيهِ
Chapter: When yawning, put hand over mouth
Hadith 949
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”إِذَا تَثَاءَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَضَعْ يَدَهُ بِفِيهِ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدْخُلُ فِيهِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you yawns, he should place his hand over his mouth, for the devil enters the mouth."
Hadith 950
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ هِلاَلِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: إِذَا تَثَاءَبَ فَلْيَضَعْ يَدَهُ عَلَى فِيهِ، فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: When any of you yawns, he should place his hand over his mouth, for it is from Satan.
Hadith 951
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنًا لأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ يُحَدِّثُ أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”إِذَا تَثَاءَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُمْسِكْ عَلَى فِيهِ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدْخُلُهُ.“ ¤ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سُهَيْلٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”إِذَا تَثَاءَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُمْسِكْ بِيَدِهِ فَمَهُ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدْخُلُهُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you yawns, he should cover his mouth, for the devil enters into it."
In another narration from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you yawns, he should cover his mouth with his hand, for the devil enters into it."
In another narration from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you yawns, he should cover his mouth with his hand, for the devil enters into it."
