بَابُ إِذَا عَطَسَ مِرَارًا
Chapter: If one sneezes repeatedly
Hadith 938
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِيَاسُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَطَسَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: ”يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ“، ثُمَّ عَطَسَ أُخْرَى، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”هَذَا مَزْكُومٌ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when a man sneezed, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said «يرحمك الله», then he sneezed a second time, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He has a cold."
Hadith 939
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: شَمِّتْهُ وَاحِدَةً وَثِنْتَيْنِ وَثَلاَثًا، فَمَا كَانَ بَعْدَ هَذَا فَهُوَ زُكَامٌ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: Respond to the one who sneezes once, twice, and three times; after that, if he sneezes, it is due to a cold.
