Chapter: Saying "Subhan Allah" when amazed
Hadith 902
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْكَلْبِيِّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”بَيْنَمَا رَاعٍ فِي غَنَمِهِ، عَدَا عَلَيْهِ الذِّئْبُ فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُ شَاةً، فَطَلَبَهُ الرَّاعِي، فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ الذِّئْبُ فَقَالَ: مَنْ لَهَا يَوْمَ السَّبُعِ؟ لَيْسَ لَهَا رَاعٍ غَيْرِي“، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”فَإِنِّي أُؤْمِنُ بِذَلِكَ، أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "While a shepherd was among his sheep, a wolf attacked and seized a sheep. The shepherd chased after it, and the wolf turned to him and said: 'On the day when wild beasts will rule and I will be their shepherd in place of anyone else, who will protect them then?' The people said: 'Glory be to Allah!' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'I believe in this, and so do Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).'"
Hadith 903
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَيْدَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَنَازَةٍ، فَأَخَذَ شَيْئًا فَجَعَلَ يَنْكُتُ بِهِ فِي الأَرْضِ، فَقَالَ: ”مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلاَّ قَدْ كُتِبَ مَقْعَدُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ، وَمَقْعَدُهُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ“، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَفَلاَ نَتَّكِلُ عَلَى كِتَابِنَا، وَنَدَعُ الْعَمَلَ؟ قَالَ: ”اعْمَلُوا، فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ“، قَالَ: ”أَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّعَادَةِ فَسَيُيَسَّرُ لِعَمَلِ السَّعَادَةِ، وَأَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّقَاوَةِ فَسَيُيَسَّرُ لِعَمَلِ الشَّقَاوَةِ“، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ: ﴿فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى﴾ [اللیل: 6].
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at a funeral. He picked up something and began to scratch the ground with it and said: "The abode of each one of you in Paradise and Hell has been written." They said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we not rely on what has been written for us and give up action? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Continue to act, for everyone is facilitated for that for which he was created." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For those who are destined for happiness, the deeds of happiness are made easy, and for those who are wretched, the deeds of wretchedness are made easy." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: «فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ» [الليل: 5-6] So, as for he who gives and fears Allah and affirms the best...
