Hadith 822
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي جَدِّي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ الصَّرْمَ، فَسَمَّاهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَعِيدًا، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مُتَّكِئًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Yarbu' Makhzumi (may Allah be pleased with him) that his name was Sarm. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) named him Sa'id. 'Umar bin 'Uthman (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I saw Sayyiduna 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) sitting in the mosque, leaning back.
Hadith 823
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هَانِئِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: لَمَّا وُلِدَ الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَمَّيْتُهُ: حَرْبًا، فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ”أَرُونِي ابْنِي، مَا سَمَّيْتُمُوهُ؟“ قُلْنَا: حَرْبًا، قَالَ: ”بَلْ هُوَ حَسَنٌ.“ فَلَمَّا وُلِدَ الْحُسَيْنُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَمَّيْتُهُ حَرْبًا، فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ”أَرُونِي ابْنِي، مَا سَمَّيْتُمُوهُ؟“ قُلْنَا: حَرْبًا، قَالَ: ”بَلْ هُوَ حُسَيْنٌ.“ فَلَمَّا وُلِدَ الثَّالِثُ سَمَّيْتُهُ: حَرْبًا، فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ”أَرُونِي ابْنِي، مَا سَمَّيْتُمُوهُ؟“ قُلْنَا: حَرْبًا، قَالَ: ”بَلْ هُوَ مُحْسِنٌ“، ثُمَّ قَالَ: ”إِنِّي سَمَّيْتُهُمْ بِأَسْمَاءِ وَلَدِ هَارُونَ: شِبْرٌ، وَشَبِيرٌ، وَمُشَبِّرٌ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) was born, I named him Harb. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and said: "Show me my son, what have you named him?" We said: Harb. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Rather, he is Hasan." Then when Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) was born, I named him Harb. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and said: "Show me my son, what have you named him?" We said: We have named him Harb. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Rather, his name is Husayn." When the third son was born, I named him Harb. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and said: "Show me my son, what have you named him?" We said: Harb. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, his name is Muhsin." Then he said: "I have named them after the sons of Harun (peace be upon him). Their names were Shabbar, Shabbir, and Mushabbir."
