بَابُ لَا تُسَمُّوا الْعِنَبَ الْكَرْمَ
Chapter: Do Not Call Grapes "Karm"
Hadith 795
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ: الْكَرْمَ، وَقُولُوا الْحَبَلَةَ“، يَعْنِي: الْعِنَبَ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "None of you should ever say: 'Karam,' rather you should say 'Hablah,' meaning grapes."
