It is narrated from Abdullah bin Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him), he said: I went to the market with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he passed by a little girl who was singing. He said: If Satan were to leave anyone (from misguidance), he would have left this girl.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I am neither one of vain play, nor does vain play have any connection with me." That is: falsehood has nothing to do with me.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Spread the greeting of peace, you will live in safety, and idle talk is evil.” Abu Mu’awiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The meaning of “evil” is “futility.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was in a gathering when he received news that some people were playing chess. He got up from there in great anger, strictly forbidding it, and then said: Beware! The one who plays chess so that he may earn from it is like one who eats the flesh of a pig, and like one who performs ablution with its blood.
