بَابُ قَوْلِ الرَّجُلِ: لَا وَ أَبِيكَ
Chapter: Saying "No, by Your Father"
Hadith 778
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلامٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ أَجْرًا؟ قَالَ: ”أَمَا وَأَبِيكَ لَتُنَبَّأَنَّهُ: أَنْ تَصَدَّقَ وَأَنْتَ صَحِيحٌ شَحِيحٌ تَخْشَى الْفَقْرَ، وَتَأْمُلُ الْغِنَى، وَلاَ تُمْهِلْ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ قُلْتَ: لِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا، وَلِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا، وَقَدْ كَانَ لِفلانٍ.“
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Which charity is best in terms of reward? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By your father! You will surely be informed of it. (The best charity is) that you give charity while you are healthy, desiring wealth, fearing poverty, and hoping for affluence. And do not delay charity to the extent that your soul reaches your throat and then you say: Give so much to so-and-so, and so much to so-and-so, while by then it has already become theirs."
