بَابُ مَنْ سَتَرَ مُسْلِمًا
Chapter: One Who Covers a Muslim
Hadith 758
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَشِيطٍ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ قَالَ: جَاءَ قَوْمٌ إِلَى عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ فَقَالُوا: إِنَّ لَنَا جِيرَانًا يَشْرَبُونَ وَيَفْعَلُونَ، أَفَنَرْفَعُهُمْ إِلَى الإِمَامِ؟ قَالَ: لاَ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”مَنْ رَأَى مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ عَوْرَةً فَسَتَرَهَا، كَانَ كَمَنْ أَحْيَا مَوْءُودَةً مِنْ قَبْرِهَا.“
It is narrated from Abu Al-Haytham (may Allah have mercy on him) that some people came to Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: "Our neighbors drink alcohol and do such and such deeds. Should we complain about them to the Imam?" He replied: "No, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever sees a fault in a Muslim and conceals it, not revealing it to anyone, it is as if he has brought a buried-alive girl out of her grave and given her life.'"
