بَابُ نَفَقَةِ الرَّجُلِ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ
Chapter: Spending on One's Family
Hadith 748
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”إِنَّ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ دِينَارٍ أَنْفَقَهُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ، وَدِينَارٌ أَنْفَقَهُ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَدِينَارٌ أَنْفَقَهُ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ“، قَالَ أَبُو قِلابَةَ : وَبَدَأَ بِالْعِيَالِ ، ”وَأَيُّ رَجُلٍ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يُنْفِقُ عَلَى عِيَالٍ صِغَارٍ حَتَّى يُغْنِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ؟“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, the best dinar is the one that a man spends on his family, and the dinar that he spends on his companions in the way of Allah, and the dinar that he spends on his mount in the way of Allah......" Abu Qilabah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began with the family...... "And who is greater in reward than the one who spends on his small children until Allah makes them self-sufficient?"
Hadith 749
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: ”مَنْ أَنْفَقَ نَفَقَةً عَلَى أَهْلِهِ، وَهُوَ يَحْتَسِبُهَا، كَانَتْ لَهُ صَدَقَةً.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever spends on his family while hoping for reward and goodness, then it will be charity for him."
Hadith 750
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَافِعٍ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ؟ قَالَ: ”أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ“، قَالَ: عِنْدِي آخَرُ، فَقَالَ: ”أَنْفِقْهُ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ“، أَوْ قَالَ: ”عَلَى وَلَدِكَ“، قَالَ: عِنْدِي آخَرُ، قَالَ: ”ضَعْهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَهُوَ أَخَسُّهَا.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! If I have one dinar, where should I spend it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Spend it on yourself." He said: If I have another? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Spend it on your servant," or he said: "Spend it on your children." He said: If I have another? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Spend it in the way of Allah; in this, the reward is less than the first two."
Hadith 751
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُزَاحِمِ بْنِ زُفَرَ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: ”أَرْبَعَةُ دَنَانِيرَ: دِينَارًا أَعْطَيْتَهُ مِسْكِينًا، وَدِينَارًا أَعْطَيْتَهُ فِي رَقَبَةٍ، وَدِينَارًا أَنْفَقْتَهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَدِينَارًا أَنْفَقْتَهُ عَلَى أَهْلِكَ، أَفْضَلُهَا الَّذِي أَنْفَقْتَهُ عَلَى أَهْلِكَ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are four dinars: one dinar is that which you give to a poor person, the second is that which you spend to free a slave, the third is the dinar which you spend in the way of Allah, and the fourth is that which you spend on your family. The best among them is the one which you spend on your family."
