It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man supplicated in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Allah! You have not given me wealth with which I can give charity, so put me in some calamity in which there is reward for me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Subhan Allah! You do not have the strength to bear calamity. Why did you not supplicate like this: O Allah, grant us goodness in this world, and goodness in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire."

Hadith Takhrij«حسن صحيح : و رواه مسلم ، كتاب الذكر و الدعاء : 2688 و الترمذي : 3487 - دون قول الرجل، انظر صحيح أبى داؤد : 1359»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to a man who had become so weak from illness that he was like a plucked bird. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pray to Allah or ask Him (for health)." He began to say: O Allah! Whatever punishment You have destined for me in the Hereafter, give it to me quickly in this world. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Subhan Allah! You cannot bear that. Why did you not pray: O Allah! Grant us goodness in this world, and goodness in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire." Then he prayed, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, granted him healing.
