It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "Whenever a Muslim supplicates, provided it is not for a sin or for severing ties of kinship, Allah grants him one of three things: either his supplication is answered immediately as he asked, or it is stored for him in the Hereafter, or a calamity of similar measure that was to befall him is averted from him." The narrator said: "Then we will supplicate a lot." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah is even more generous."

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever a believer turns to Allah and asks for something, Allah grants it to him. Either He gives it to him in this world according to his request, or He stores it for him in the Hereafter, as long as the servant does not become hasty." The Companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is haste? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He says: I made supplication, then I made supplication, but I do not see my supplication being accepted."
