بَابُ مَنْ قَالَ : يُسْتَجَابُ لِلْعَبْدِ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ
Chapter: The Supplication Is Answered Unless One Is Hasty
Hadith 654
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَكَانَ مِنَ الْقُرَّاءِ وَأَهْلِ الْفِقْهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ”يُسْتَجَابُ لأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ ، يَقُولُ : دَعَوْتُ فَلَمْ يُسْتَجَبْ لِي.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your supplication is accepted as long as he does not hasten, saying: I made supplication but it was not accepted."
Hadith 655
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ ، أَنَّ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ”يُسْتَجَابُ لأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَدْعُ بِإِثْمٍ أَوْ قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ ، أَوْ يَسْتَعْجِلَ ، فَيَقُولُ : دَعَوْتُ فَلا أَرَى يَسْتَجِيبُ لِي ، فَيَدَعُ الدُّعَاءَ.“
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The supplication of every one of you is certainly accepted as long as he does not pray for a sin or for severing ties of kinship, or he does not become hasty, such that he says: I made supplication but I do not think it has been accepted, then he gives up supplicating."
