It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a Muslim man has nothing to give in charity, then he should say in his supplication: O Allah, send mercy upon Muhammad (peace be upon him), Your servant and Messenger, and upon the believing men and believing women, and also send mercy upon the Muslim men and Muslim women. This will be his charity."

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever says: O Allah, send mercy upon Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the family of Muhammad, just as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and the family of Ibrahim, and send blessings upon Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the family of Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and the family of Ibrahim. And have mercy on Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the family of Muhammad, just as You had mercy on Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and the family of Ibrahim, then I will bear witness for him and intercede for him on the Day of Resurrection.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas and Sayyiduna Malik bin Aws bin Hadthan (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out to relieve himself and did not find anyone to accompany him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) followed him carrying water in a jug and found the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a state of prostration on a path or platform. So he sat aside behind him until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) completed his prostration. Then he said: "Umar! You did very well by moving aside when you saw me in a state of prostration. Indeed, Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and said: Whoever sends blessings upon you once, Allah will send ten mercies upon him and raise him by ten degrees."
