It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When any one of you makes supplication, he should not say: 'If You wish, grant it to me,' but he should ask Allah with determination and with great eagerness, for nothing is too great for Allah to give."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When any one of you supplicates, he should do so with firm resolve, and he should not say: O Allah, if You wish, grant it to me. Surely, there is no one who can compel Allah."
