It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: In the last era, there will be hunger and famine. Whoever reaches that time should not turn away from hungry people, that is, he should not eat himself and neglect them.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Ansar said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Please divide our date orchards between us and our Muhajir brothers." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." Then the Ansar said to the Muhajirin: "You help us with the work, and we will share the fruit with you." They said: "We accept this."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the year of famine, which was a year of severe hardship and distress, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) greatly helped the villagers. He gave them camels, wheat, oil, and other necessities. Until the villagers came out of the difficulty they were in and became prosperous, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) supplicated to Allah in this way: "O Allah! Produce their sustenance on the tops of the mountains." Allah Almighty accepted his and the Muslims' supplication. When rain descended, he said: «الحمد لله» "By Allah, if Allah had not made things easy, I would have included as many poor people with the well-off households of the Muslims. In this way, not even two people would have perished over the food that sufficed one person."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “None of you should keep the meat of the sacrifice in his house for more than three days.” Then, when the following year came, the people said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we do the same this year as we did last year? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Eat and store it as well. Last year, because people were in hardship, I wanted you to assist them.”
