بَابُ أَيْنَ يَقْعُدُ الْعَائِدُ؟
Chapter: Where Should the Visitor Sit?
Hadith 536
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْمِنْهَالُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا عَادَ الْمَرِيضَ جَلَسَ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ سَبْعَ مِرَارٍ : ”أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ ، رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ ، أَنْ يَشْفِيكَ“، فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي أَجَلِهِ تَأْخِيرٌ عُوفِيَ مِنْ وَجَعِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would visit a sick person, he would sit by his head and then recite this supplication seven times: «أسأل الله العظيم رب العرش العظيم أن يشفيك» "I ask Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure you." If his death was to be delayed, he would recover from that illness.
Hadith 537
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : ذَهَبْتُ مَعَ الْحَسَنِ إِلَى قَتَادَةَ نَعُودُهُ ، فَقَعَدَ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ ، فَسَأَلَهُ ، ثُمَّ دَعَا لَهُ ، قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ اشْفِ قَلْبَهُ ، وَاشْفِ سَقَمَهُ.
It is narrated from Rabi' bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) that I went with Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) to visit Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) during his illness. He sat by his bedside and inquired about his condition, then prayed for him in these words: O Allah, heal his heart and grant him health from his illness.
