بَابُ عِيَادَةِ الأَعْرَابِ
Chapter: Visiting the Bedouins
Hadith 514
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، دَخَلَ عَلَى أَعْرَابِيٍّ ، يَعُودُهُ ، فَقَالَ : ”لا بَأْسَ عَلَيْكَ ، طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ“، قَالَ : قَالَ الأَعْرَابِيُّ : بَلْ هِيَ حُمَّى تَفُورُ ، عَلَى شَيْخٍ كَبِيرٍ ، كَيْمَا تُزِيرُهُ الْقُبُورَ ، قَالَ : ”فَنَعَمْ إِذًا.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to visit a Bedouin who was ill. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There is no harm and no fear for you; this illness is a means of purification from sins, if Allah wills." The narrator says that the Bedouin replied: "No, rather it is a fever that is boiling in an old man so that it may take him to the graveyard." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Then it will be as you say."
