Narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I was riding a stubborn camel, so I began to beat it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Be gentle, for gentleness beautifies whatever it is in, and when it is taken away from something, it makes it ugly."
It is narrated from Abu Nazrah that there was a man from our tribe who was called Jabir or Juwaybir. He reported that during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), I went to him for a need. I reached Madinah at night and in the morning I went to him. I was an intelligent man and also had eloquence in speech. I began to speak about the insignificance and evil of the world and proved that it had no real value. At his side was a man with a white beard, dressed in white clothes. When I finished speaking, he said: All your words are correct, except for what you said about the condemnation of the world. Do you know what the world is? It is in this world that the means to reach the Hereafter are found. It is in this world that we perform those deeds for which we will be rewarded in the Hereafter. A person more knowledgeable than me about the world spoke to me about it, so I asked: O Leader of the Believers! Who is this person sitting beside you? He said: The leader of the Muslims, Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him).
