بَابُ مَنْ بَنَى
Chapter: One Who Builds
Hadith 453
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَلاَّمِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ، عَنْ حَبَّةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، وَسَوَاءَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُعَالِجُ حَائِطًا أَوْ بِنَاءً لَهُ، فَأَعَانَاهُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Habbah bin Khalid and Sayyiduna Suwa’ bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with them) that both of them came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was repairing a wall and a building, so both of them assisted him.
Hadith 454
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى خَبَّابٍ نَعُودُهُ، وَقَدِ اكْتَوَى سَبْعَ كَيَّاتٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَصْحَابَنَا الَّذِينَ سَلَفُوا مَضَوْا وَلَمْ تُنْقِصْهُمُ الدُّنْيَا، وَإِنَّا أَصَبْنَا مَا لاَ نَجِدُ لَهُ مَوْضِعًا إِلاَّ التُّرَابَ، وَلَوْلاَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَدْعُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ لَدَعَوْتُ بِهِ.
It is narrated from Qais bin Abi Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him), he said: We went to visit Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) when he had branded his body with seven marks. He said: Our friends who passed away before us have departed from this world and the world did not decrease their reward in any way. And as for us, we have been given so much wealth that we find no use for it except to bury it in the earth. If the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had not forbidden us from praying for death, I would have prayed for death.
Hadith 455
ثُمَّ أَتَيْنَاهُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى، وَهُوَ يَبْنِي حَائِطًا لَهُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ يُؤْجَرُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُنْفِقُهُ إِلاَّ فِي شَيْءٍ يَجْعَلُهُ فِي التُّرَابِ.
Qais bin Abi Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once we visited him and he was building his wall. He said: Indeed, whatever a Muslim spends, he is surely rewarded for it, except for what he spends on mud (i.e., construction).
Hadith 456
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو السَّفَرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ: مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَنَا أُصْلِحُ خُصًّا لَنَا، فَقَالَ: ”مَا هَذَا؟“ قُلْتُ: أُصْلِحُ خُصَّنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: ”الأَمْرُ أَسْرَعُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by us while I was repairing my hut (which had become dilapidated). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: "What are you doing?" I replied: O Messenger of Allah! I am repairing my hut. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The matter (death) will come even sooner than this."
