بَابُ سِبَابِ الْمُسْلِمِ فُسُوقٌ
Chapter: Insulting a Muslim Is Wickedness
Hadith 429
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”سِبَابُ الْمُسْلِمِ فُسُوقٌ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Abusing a Muslim is wickedness and a sin."
Hadith 430
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِلاَلُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاحِشًا، وَلاَ لَعَّانًا، وَلاَ سَبَّابًا، كَانَ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ الْمَعْتَبَةِ: ”مَا لَهُ تَرِبَ جَبِينُهُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was neither indecent in speech, nor one who cursed, nor one who abused. Rather, when he became angry, he would (only) say: "What is the matter with him, may his forehead be dust-covered."
Hadith 431
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”سِبَابُ الْمُسْلِمِ فُسُوقٌ، وَقِتَالُهُ كُفْرٌ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that it is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Abusing a Muslim is a sin, and fighting him is disbelief."
Hadith 432
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْمَُرَ، أَنَّ أَبَا الأَسْوَدِ الدِّيلِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا ذَرٍّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”لَا يَرْمِي رَجُلٌ رَجُلاً بِالْفُسُوقِ، وَلَا يَرْمِيهِ بِالْكُفْرِ، إِلَّا ارْتَدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ صَاحِبُهُ كَذَلِكَ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "When a man calls another man a disbeliever or a sinner, and he is not so, then this (statement) returns upon him (and he becomes as such)."
Hadith 433
وَبِالسَّنَدِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”مَنِ ادَّعَى لِغَيْرِ أَبِيهِ وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ، وَمَنِ ادَّعَى قَوْمًا لَيْسَ هُوَ مِنْهُمْ فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ، وَمَنْ دَعَا رَجُلاً بِالْكُفْرِ، أَوْ قَالَ: عَدُوُّ اللهِ، وَلَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ إِلا حَارَتْ عَلَيْهِ.“
With this chain of narration, it is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever knowingly claims someone other than his father as his father, he has committed disbelief (kufr) (with Allah). Similarly, whoever claims to belong to a people while he is not one of them, he should take his place in the Fire. And whoever calls a man a disbeliever (kafir) or says, 'O enemy of Allah,' while he is not so, then its consequence will return upon the one who said it."
Hadith 434
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ صُرَدٍ، رَجُلاً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: اسْتَبَّ رَجُلاَنِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَغَضِبَ أَحَدُهُمَا، فَاشْتَدَّ غَضَبُهُ حَتَّى انْتَفَخَ وَجْهُهُ وَتَغَيَّرَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الَّذِي يَجِدُ“، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَيْهِ الرَّجُلُ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِقَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ: تَعَوَّذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ، وَقَالَ: أَتَرَى بِي بَأْسًا، أَمَجْنُونٌ أَنَا؟ اذْهَبْ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sulaiman bin Surad (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that two men quarreled in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One of them became angry, and his anger was so intense that the expression on his face changed and he swelled up. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I know a word; if this person were to say it, surely his anger would go away." So a man (Sayyiduna Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with him) went to him and told him what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said, and said: Seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the accursed devil. The man replied: Do you think I am sick? Am I mad? Go away.
Hadith 435
حَدَّثَنَا خَلاَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ إِلاَّ بَيْنَهُمَا مِنَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سِتْرٌ، فَإِذَا قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ كَلِمَةَ هَجْرٍ فَقَدْ خَرَقَ سِتْرَ اللهِ، وَإِذَا قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِلْآخَرِ: أَنْتَ كَافِرٌ، فَقَدْ كَفَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: There is a veil from Allah between every two Muslims. When one of them speaks abusively, he tears the veil of Allah. And when one of them says to the other, "You are a disbeliever," then one of them becomes a disbeliever.
