بَابُ الْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ يَتَهَاتَرَانِ وَيَتَكَاذَبَانِ
Chapter: The Two Abusing Each Other Are Two Devils, Reviling and Lying
Hadith 427
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الرَّجُلُ يَسُبُّنِي؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”الْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ يَتَهَاتَرَانِ وَيَتَكَاذَبَانِ.“
Sayyiduna Iyad bin Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What if a man abuses me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two people who abuse each other are both devils, behaving foolishly and lying."
Hadith 428
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ، عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ حَجَّاجٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْحَى إِلَيَّ أَنْ تَوَاضَعُوا حَتَّى لاَ يَبْغِيَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ، وَلاَ يَفْخَرَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ“، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَبَّنِي فِي مَلَأٍ هُمْ أَنْقُصُ مِنِّي، فَرَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ، هَلْ عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ جُنَاحٌ؟ قَالَ: ”الْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ يَتَهَاتَرَانِ وَيَتَكَاذَبَانِ.“
Sayyiduna Iyad bin Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah Almighty has revealed to me that you should adopt humility and modesty, and that no one should wrong another, nor should anyone boast over another.” I asked: O Messenger of Allah! If someone of lower status abuses me and I respond to him, will I be sinful? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Both who abuse each other are devils who utter obscenities and lie.”
Hadith 428M
قَالَ عِيَاضٌ: وَكُنْتُ حَرْبًا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَهْدَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ نَاقَةً، قَبْلَ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ، فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْهَا وَقَالَ: ”إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ زَبْدَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ.“
Sayyiduna Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) says that before accepting Islam, while I was still an opponent of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I gave a she-camel to him as a gift, but he did not accept it, and said: "I dislike the gift of polytheists."
