بَابُ إِذَا كَذَبْتَ لِرَجُلٍ هُوَ لَكَ مُصَدِّقٌ
Chapter: Lying to One Who Trusts You
Hadith 393
حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ ضُبَارَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ أُسَيْدٍ الْحَضْرَمِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”كَبُرَتْ خِيَانَةً أَنْ تُحَدِّثَ أَخَاكَ حَدِيثًا هُوَ لَكَ مُصَدِّقٌ، وَأَنْتَ لَهُ كَاذِبٌ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Asid Hadhrami, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "The greatest betrayal is that you speak to your brother about something, and he believes you to be truthful, while you are lying to him."
