It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: “Adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness and obedience, and righteousness paves the way to Paradise. Indeed, a person continues to speak the truth until he is recorded with Allah as a very truthful person. And beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness and immorality, and wickedness drives one towards the Fire. A person continues to lie until he is recorded with Allah as a great liar.”
