بَابُ مَنْ سَمِعَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ فَأَفْشَاهَا
Chapter: Whoever Hears of an Immorality and Spreads It
Hadith 324
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: الْقَائِلُ الْفَاحِشَةَ، وَالَّذِي يُشِيعُ بِهَا، فِي الإِثْمِ سَوَاءٌ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The one who speaks obscenely and the one who spreads it, both are equal in sin.
Hadith 325
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ شُبَيْلِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ: كَانَ يُقَالُ: مَنْ سَمِعَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ فَأَفْشَاهَا، فَهُوَ فِيهَا كَالَّذِي أَبْدَاهَا.
It is narrated from Shibl bin ‘Awf (may Allah have mercy on him), he said: It used to be said: Whoever hears an obscene word and then spreads it, he is like the one who exposes that evil.
Hadith 326
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَرَى النَّكَالَ عَلَى مَنْ أَشَاعَ الزِّنَا، يَقُولُ: أَشَاعَ الْفَاحِشَةَ.
It is narrated from Ata bin Abi Rabah (may Allah have mercy on him), his stance was that a person who publicizes adultery should be given a severe exemplary punishment. He said that such a person spreads immorality.
