بَابُ النَّمَّامِ
Chapter: The Tale-Bearer
Hadith 322
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ: كُنَّا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّ رَجُلا يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ، فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ قَتَّاتٌ.“
Hammam says that we were with Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) when it was said to him that a certain person conveys people's words to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The tale-bearer will not enter Paradise."
Hadith 323
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ قَالَتْ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخِيَارِكُمْ؟“ قَالُوا: بَلَى، قَالَ: ”الَّذِينَ إِذَا رُؤُوا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ، أَفَلاَ أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشِرَارِكُمْ؟“ قَالُوا: بَلَى، قَالَ: ”الْمَشَّاؤُونَ بِالنَّمِيمَةِ، الْمُفْسِدُونَ بَيْنَ الأَحِبَّةِ، الْبَاغُونَ الْبُرَآءَ الْعَنَتَ.“
Narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you about the best among you?" The companions said: "Why not?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Those whom, when you see them, you are reminded of Allah." Then he said: "Shall I not tell you who the worst among you are?" The companions said: "Why not, do tell us." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The slanderers, those who create discord among loved ones, and those who cause trouble and difficulties for innocent people are the worst."
