بَابُ لَيْسَ الْمُؤْمِنُ بِالطَّعَّانِ
Chapter: The Believer is Not a Fault-Finder
Hadith 309
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي الْفُدَيْكِ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: مَا سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ لاَعِنًا أَحَدًا قَطُّ، لَيْسَ إِنْسَانًا. وَكَانَ سَالِمٌ يَقُولُ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَعَّانًا.“
It is narrated from Salim bin Abdullah that I never heard my father, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), curse anyone except one man. And Salim used to say that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not befitting for a believer to be excessively cursing."
Hadith 310
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلامٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْفَزَارِيُّ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْفَاحِشَ الْمُتَفَحِّشَ، وَلاَ الصَّيَّاحَ فِي الاسْوَاقِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty does not like one who is foul-mouthed, adopts foul language, and shouts in the markets."
Hadith 311
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، أَنَّ يَهُودًا أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا: السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: وَعَلَيْكُمْ، وَلَعَنَكُمُ اللَّهُ، وَغَضِبُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ، قَالَ: ”مَهْلاً يَا عَائِشَةُ، عَلَيْكِ بِالرِّفْقِ، وَإِيَّاكِ وَالْعُنْفَ وَالْفُحْشَ“، قَالَتْ: أَوَ لَمْ تَسْمَعْ مَا قَالُوا؟ قَالَ: ”أَوَ لَمْ تَسْمَعِي مَا قُلْتُ؟ رَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَيُسْتَجَابُ لِي فِيهِمْ، وَلاَ يُسْتَجَابُ لَهُمْ فِيَّ.“
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Jews came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Death be upon you." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: "And death be upon you, and the curse of Allah and His wrath." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Aisha! Be gentle, and avoid harshness and foul speech." She said: "Did you not hear what they said?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you not hear what I replied to them? I returned their words upon them. Then my supplication against them is accepted, and theirs against me is not accepted."
Hadith 312
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”لَيْسَ الْمُؤْمِنُ بِالطَّعَّانِ، وَلاَ اللِّعَانِ، وَلاَ الْفَاحِشِ وَلاَ الْبَذِي.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "A believer is not one who curses excessively, is immoral, or uses obscene language."
Hadith 313
حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”لَا يَنْبَغِي لِذِي الْوَجْهَيْنِ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَمِينًا.“
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A two-faced person is not worthy to be considered trustworthy."
Hadith 314
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: أَلأَمُ أَخْلاَقِ الْمُؤْمِنِ الْفُحْشُ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The most despicable and base trait in the character of a believer is obscene speech."
Hadith 315
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ، يَقُولُ: لُعِنَ اللَّعَّانُونَ. قَالَ مَرْوَانُ: الَّذِينَ يَلْعَنُونَ النَّاسَ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: Those who curse excessively are themselves accursed. Marwan bin Mu'awiyah said: They are those who curse people.
