It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with her), she says that Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) got up at night and prayed, then began to weep and was saying: O Allah, You have made my appearance good, so make my character good as well. He kept making this supplication until morning. I said: O Abu Darda’! You have been supplicating for good character all night. He said: Umm Darda’! If a Muslim servant’s character is good, his character will admit him to Paradise, and if his character is bad, it will admit him to the Fire. And when a Muslim servant is asleep, he is forgiven. I said: O Abu Darda’! How is a sleeping person forgiven? He said: His brother gets up at night and prays Tahajjud, then supplicates to Allah Almighty, and his supplication is accepted, and he supplicates for his brother, so the supplication he makes for his brother is also accepted.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usama bin Sharik (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (on the occasion of Hajj) and the Bedouins came. Many people came from this side and many from that side. The people became silent and no one was speaking except them. They said: O Messenger of Allah! Is there any sin in doing such and such things? They mentioned many such matters to the people in which there was no harm in doing them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah the Exalted has removed hardship and difficulty. However, whoever unjustly eats someone’s flesh, he remains in hardship and is destroyed." They asked: O Messenger of Allah! Can we use medicine? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O servants of Allah! Seek treatment, for indeed Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has sent down a cure for every disease He has sent down, except for one disease." They said: O Messenger of Allah! What is that disease? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Old age." They submitted: O Messenger of Allah! What is the best and most excellent thing given to man? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Good character."
