It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was very merciful and compassionate. Whoever (a beggar) came to him, if he did not have (anything), he would make a promise to him, and if he had (something), he would certainly give it. Once, the iqamah for prayer had been given when a Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), grabbed his cloak, and said: "I have just a small matter left, I fear I might forget it, so please listen to me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood with him until he had finished his request, and then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and led the prayer.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: Among women, I have not seen anyone more generous than Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her), and the manner of their generosity was different. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to collect wealth, and when some wealth was accumulated with her, she would spend it, whereas Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) would not save anything for the next day (she would spend whatever she had).
