بَابُ الْمِزَاحِ
Chapter: Joking
Hadith 264
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: أَتَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ وَمَعَهُنَّ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ، فَقَالَ: ”يَا أَنْجَشَةُ، رُوَيْدًا سَوْقَكَ بِالْقَوَارِيرِ.“ قَالَ أَبُو قِلابَةَ: فَتَكَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ لَوْ تَكَلَّمَ بِهَا بَعْضُكُمْ لَعُبْتُمُوهَا عَلَيْهِ، قَوْلُهُ: ”سَوْقَكَ بِالْقَوَارِيرِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to some of his wives, and among them was Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Anjasha! Drive gently with the glass vessels." The narrator of the hadith, Abu Qilabah, said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave such an instruction that if any of you had said it, you would not have considered it good. What I mean is his saying: "Carry the glass vessels with care."
Hadith 265
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَوْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ تُدَاعِبُنَا؟ قَالَ: ”إِنِّي لاَ أَقُولُ إِلا حَقًّا.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "O Messenger of Allah! You joke with us!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Even when I joke, I speak only the truth."
Hadith 266
حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَبَادَحُونَ بِالْبِطِّيخِ، فَإِذَا كَانَتِ الْحَقَائِقُ كَانُوا هُمُ الرِّجَالَ.
It is narrated from Bakr bin Abdullah, he said that the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to throw melons at each other in jest, but when it came to matters of seriousness (such as honor and defense), they were real men.
Hadith 267
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَ: مَزَحَتْ عَائِشَةُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّهَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بَعْضُ دُعَابَاتِ هَذَا الْحَيِّ مِنْ كِنَانَةَ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”بَلْ بَعْضُ مَزْحِنَا هَذَا الْحَيُّ.“
It is narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaykah (may Allah have mercy on him) that once Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said something humorous in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Her mother submitted: O Messenger of Allah! (Please do not mind) many humorous traits of this tribe have come from Banu Kinanah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, some of our humor is also from that tribe."
Hadith 268
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَحْمِلُهُ، فَقَالَ: ”أَنَا حَامِلُكَ عَلَى وَلَدِ نَاقَةٍ“، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا أَصْنَعُ بِوَلَدِ نَاقَةٍ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”وَهَلْ تَلِدُ الإِبِلَ إِلاَّ النُّوقُ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a mount, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will mount you on the offspring of a she-camel." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! What will I do with the offspring of a she-camel?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are not camels born of she-camels?"
