بَابُ مَا لا يَجُوزُ مِنَ اللَّعِبِ وَالْمُزَاحِ
Chapter: What is Not Permissible of Play and Joking
Hadith 241
حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَعْنِي، يَقُولُ: ”لَا يَأْخُذُ أَحَدُكُمْ مَتَاعَ صَاحِبِهِ لاَعِبًا وَلاَ جَادًّا، فَإِذَا أَخَذَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَصَا صَاحِبِهِ فَلْيَرُدَّهَا إِلَيْهِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Yazid bin Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "None of you should take his companion's belongings, neither in jest nor in seriousness, so much so that if any of you takes his companion's staff, he should return it."
