بَابُ الْمُسْلِمُ مَرْآةُ أَخِيهِ
Chapter: The Muslim is the Mirror of His Brother
Hadith 238
حَدَّثَنَا أَصْبَغُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: الْمُؤْمِنُ مَرْآةُ أَخِيهِ، إِذَا رَأَى فِيهَا عَيْبًا أَصْلَحَهُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: A believer is a mirror to his brother; when he sees a fault in him, he corrects it.
Hadith 239
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”الْمُؤْمِنُ مَرْآةُ أَخِيهِ، وَالْمُؤْمِنُ أَخُو الْمُؤْمِنِ، يَكُفُّ عَلَيْهِ ضَيْعَتَهُ، وَيَحُوطُهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A believer is the mirror of his brother, and a believer is the brother of a believer; he protects him from being lost and from harm, and he safeguards him in his absence."
Hadith 240
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي حَيْوَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ وَقَّاصِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”مَنْ أَكَلَ بِمُسْلِمٍ أُكْلَةً، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُطْعِمُهُ مِثْلَهَا مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمَنْ كُسِيَ بِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَكْسُوهُ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمَنْ قَامَ بِرَجُلٍ مَقَامَ رِيَاءٍ وَسُمْعَةٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقُومُ بِهِ مَقَامَ رِيَاءٍ وَسُمْعَةٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever eats a morsel through a Muslim, Allah Almighty will feed him a similar morsel from the fire of Hell. And whoever is clothed because of a Muslim, Allah Almighty will clothe him with a similar garment from Hell. Whoever stands at a place of show and fame through a Muslim, Allah Almighty will make him stand at a place of show and fame on the Day of Resurrection."
