Narrated from Sayyiduna Qabeesah bin Barmah Asadi رضي الله عنه that I was with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم when I heard him say: "Those who are people of virtue (ma'ruf) in this world will be people of virtue in the Hereafter as well, and those who are people of evil (munkar) in this world will be people of evil in the Hereafter as well."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Harmalah bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he left his house and came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He stayed with the Prophet (peace be upon him) until he became acquainted with him. When he was about to return, he said to himself: "By Allah! Now I will keep coming to the Prophet (peace be upon him) so that my knowledge may increase." Then I walked on foot until I came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: "What do you command me to do?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Harmalah! Do good deeds and avoid sins." Then I returned and came to my mount, then again I turned towards the Prophet (peace be upon him) and, coming close to him, said: "O Messenger of Allah! What do you command me to do?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Harmalah! Do good deeds and avoid sins, and do such deeds about which you think that when you get up from among the people, they will comment favorably about it (or you hope for praise for it). And avoid such deeds about which you think that after you leave, people will comment unfavorably about it." When I returned, I thought that these two pieces of advice had left nothing out (they had informed me about every good and evil).

It is narrated from Mu'tamir that I narrated to my father the hadith of Abu Uthman, that he narrates from Salman, that he said: Those who are virtuous in this world will also be among the virtuous (doers of good) in the Hereafter. My respected father said: I also heard from Abu Uthman, who used to narrate from Salman, so I realized that it is just as it is, so I never narrated this to anyone.
